Very nice done! Really!
However, I think it is a good thing that Calvin & Hobbes did not turn into a mass-media-merchandise, nor even just film adapted.
I agree with the basics of mr. Watterson’s beliefs of not commercializing his strip. A cartoon strip is, what’s being said, reckoned as a “lower artform”, and I personally think it’s because most people see it as an art-form that appears, but not necessarily always speaks, to a younger audience. I myself question comics as an “lower artform”. What is a low art? I know mr. Watterson has questioned the same thing, and I ALSO happen to know he actually made a reference to it in one of his Calvin & Hobbes strips once. If you haven’t read it, it is filed under the date of 20th July 1993 www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobb…
IF Calvin & Hobbes had turned into a mass-media product, I think, the strip would have turned out a lot less special. Of couse it is not something that I thought about when I was little. I even once questioned why there weren’t manufactured any Hobbes-dolls… But through time I began to go more into mr. Watterson’s beliefs and I think I am beginning to get it.
I am glad that Watterson did what he did, and I find myself that IF I should happen to turn out the same, which I by the way find impossible to belife, I would probably do the same…
…But just to be clear as this Is just a fan-work: It’s really good. I’m always interested in Calvin & Hobbes artwork, even if it is done poorly. It’s an interesting style you have given the characters and I hope you would take the time to make more. Fact is, I have filed it under my favorites.
I don’t think I needed to write what I did, but I just FELT like it. I’m sorry for my long explanations, but I hope it will actually make some sence, not just for YOU, but also to those who ACTUALLY read the comments like I did…
This was an animation project at university. It was not meant to become anything like any show or to disrespect Watterson's wishes, therefore I find it very inappropriate for you to have put this here. I appreciate that you enjoy my work, and that you took the time to look at it, but please refrain from writing comments this long in the future. Please put any and all analysis not relate to the specific work onto your own profile page rather than in a comment.
I love this x3
- A boy with a loving heart, who fought the darkness to save his friends.
- A boy with a hungry heart, who fell into darkness but found the light.
- A girl with a peaceful heart, who guided her wandering friends home.
- A boy with a heart light as air, who fought the darkness that was once his own.
- A boy with a heart strong as earth, who took darkness into himself to save his friends.
- A girl with a heart deep as water, who tirelessly searches the shadows for her friends.
- Six hearts, dear, and beloved...
I loved it! C&H is still one of my favorite comic series of all time, along with Peanuts and For Better or For Worse. The coolest thing about this, that is probably the closest to a C&H cartoon that I'm ever going to see - When I was a kid, I always wanted to see a C&H cartoon show, but it never happened.
Thanks for the memories! (oops! )
nice animation i love the way you draw cats
It's really smooth, and the concept is great. Love the voice too: guess some sore throats are for the best, eh?
That's really impressive: only 70 images.
I kinda imagined his voice exactly like that. I thought you had one of your brother's help you or something... You had me fooled until I read the description
This looks great, though!
you really had me fooled
Calvin's reaction was just hilariously cute
As for the rest of your question... I kind of explained that in the youtube description. Read that, please
Impressive. As a person who likes to test voice acting,I tip my hat to you.You sure can make a boy voice. My voice is always squeaky(kinda like those little silly cartoon characters).
and alot of fun to see 8D
ALL OF MY YES.
TAKE ALL OF MY MONEY.
I LOVE YOU(NO HOMO).
It was very limited, but so cute!X3 Also, whoever you got to voice Clavin has a voice EXACTLY how I imagined Clavin's voice to be!Very good! I can so see that becoming a comic!X3
It's supposed to look limited. XD That's why it's called limited animation.
The voice was mine. I sort of explained that in the description of youtube.
No prob ^-^
Hehe,yeah,I know it X3
Yeah,I acknowledge that in another comment.Oops.
On a side note,I know you probably hear this from many people,but you're one of my biggest idols and I aspire to draw like you ;w;
Another thing(geez, please don't feel like I'm spamming you),the first thing that got me into your work was your fan art of Rocky, the flying squirrel.I was obcessed with him A LOT when I was a kid,and I still believe his is one of the best cartoon chracters ever, period.I just have a bond I can't really explain with him.Funny thing is,I got to know him by the movie, but man,do I hate the movie. And I hate Bullwinkle so much.
...Why am I even telling you this?Oh well, guess I just can't believe I'm TALKING TO THE BEST PERSON EVER!
He was my childhood hero through middle school. And he still is <333 I learned about him through the movie too, and then my dad introduced me to the show, but even though the movie is incredibly corny, it's still one of my reserved favorites for sad days and laughs. The animation part of it was fabulous. I don't hate Bullwinkle, but he does sometimes get a bit annoying XD
SAME HERE,ROCKY IS PROBABLY THE BEST CARTOON CHARACTER I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE
Ehehe, the movie is my number 1 guilty pleasure!I know it's totally crap, but if it's on TV,I'll watch it just for Rocky!
I thought the animation was pretty good =3 I watched the show recenlty and honestly kinda prefered the movie XD
Yeah,he's alright,I guess,but I'm not a fan of him.
Still, made a review of the movie(and show, later on),but you probably can't check it out because it's divided in parts and kinda big
...And I think sooner or later we're gonna have a fight between you and me discussing which of us loves Rocky more
